Just a few pictures and a bit of a story on my ride to Kaslo this year. I am slowly adjusting to the new rig but have a few thing yet to sort before it is PERFECT!  is any thing ever?

After a brief stop in Revelstoke to see the granddaughter, Son-in-law and daughter too of course but lets get priorities straight. I timed the ferry perfectly. I was loaded towards the back so so didn't have to race traffic up the Hill. I was turning off on 31. 
Rode around Trout Lake to see it there was any food but nada!  I did have a good conversation with the owner of the Windsor
 
And stopped at the top, middle and the bottom for pictures.
 
 
 
Somewhere close to Trout Lake I had stopped to fuss with the Garmin, Blank Screen, Grrrrr. A fellow stops to make sure I'm Ok. Of course it turns into a good half hour conversation on the side of the road. Forgot his name now, but was camped at Half Way Hotsprings and was doing the loop, riding a FZ09. Details you don't forget Ha! 
Issues to sort yet
 
After a great run down the Lardeu, got caught up by some KLRs, Guess, two wheels is faster I stopped at the store in Meadow Creek, got some food then proceeded to the Provincial Campground, Davis Creek? Nice spot for a break
 
Once fed and recovered, I haven't been out much this year so piloting even this fancy thing takes its toll.
I have a good run on the Tar down to Kaslo. It is not long before the house is set up and there is a cold one in hand.

Assumptions. I have been following along on some blogs of rides/hikes up to old Forestry Lookouts. Lavina is on my radar. Knowing that the road is a tad loose in spots I thought I would change out tires on the rig. Well it turns out that the Older 1200 wheel I have been confidently carrying around for the past six months doesn't fit. Who knew?? On to plan B, Eric suggests we go up Buchanan instead. I had been planning this one too. Was a great alternative.

We spent some time just enjoying the view and good conversation. Eric share some food as I had forgot to bring any. Always forget something in my ever constant rush.

I had to be quick with pictures as Eric just motors along. He was very gracious and waited on the Turtal several times.
 

 

We stopped to give the fire a good look, just incase forestry wasn't doing their job.

 


 

Back at Camp, let the relaxing happen. Just sitting around enjoying every ones conversation. With a few beverages of course. Doug's propane fire pit was a nice touch, nothing like a fire to draw a crowd. And no smoke which is a bonus. Wasn't the last man standing Saturday night, Fridays libations had caught up with me. Must be getting old!!!!
 

The usual slow pack up, would have liked to stay over but work beckoned Monday. Staff holidays so no rest for the boss.
Good run over 31a, stop in New Denver for breakfast and the Japanese Garden. As nice as ever but showing signs of a bit too much traffic.

Only to sustain a forced wait at the ferry. Not bad two sailings. Got to chill and eat the gum drops I bought in Nakusp

Last on the boat again, got by a few RVs but heavy sidecars don't just effortlessly pass traffic. For the most part they were maintaining a reasonable pace so I trundled along. I pulled into the summit for a break and let them get ahead. Clear sailing from then on. I did turn off on Echo Lake road to stop in and visit the Sister. Took a bit to find her driveway as I had it in my mind that it was 14 k up Creighton Valley road. No it is 15 to 16 k. Been a few years, OK!  Anyways had a good visit. She has parred down the herd. 14 or so. The Off grid house is doing fine. Not my lifestyle choice but Her and Steve really enjoy it. We sorted out all the business woes of the day. 
After that over Trinity Valley, "super highway" and home for dinner. 
A very enjoyable weekend.
