Yes, I read that in a later report.. Any ways ride your ride and maybe not in Tee Shirts and shorts. Though I did go to town in shorts the other day on the Sidecar.. Riding a water boxer on a 35 degree day in shorts is not recommended. The knees and the boys get roasted.

I have never experienced a high speed "death wobble" but I have experienced a low speed (approx 60kph) wobble due to low front tire pressure (about 15 - 20 psi instead of 33) !

I have heard, read about, and watched some videos about "death wobbles" that seemed to be a common occurrence with some HD motorcycles in the past.  Here is a link to an article about high speed wobbles that some might find interesting.

When I bought my 92 R100RT it had a frightening wobble when decelerating through about 70 kph.  Not quite a death wobble and I was able to dampen it out by holding onto the handle bars tightly as the speed dropped through that range.  In that case the problem was solved with a complete rebuild of the front end.  New steering head bearings, wheel bearings, progressive fork springs, new fork oil and seals and a new front tire of the correct size.  No wobble at all now and the tracking is perfect.   

The only other time I had that kind of wobble was when chopping the throttle on my 84 Yamaha Venture Royale at a super legal speed out in the wilds of Montana.  (Many years ago.) That was scary the first time.  Some experimentation showed me that the sudden chop of throttle caused the front end to dive, changing the steering geometry severely and instantly.  An easy roll off of the throttle didn't cause the wobble.  Of course if I had been doing a sensible speed it wouldn't have been a problem at all.  

Hard to say what happened in this particular case.  Inexperienced rider......  poorly maintained bike....   we just don't know.
