Hi Folks:  
The Sunday of a long weekend is often a great time to take a nice long ride.  Since all the holiday folks are presumably already at their destination, traffic is often not too busy.  
We're thinking of repeating a ride we did in May of 2022 and the intended route is below.  This is a fairly long ride, ~560 km so an early start will be in order.  

 

The basic route is: 
 - Meet in Kelowna or at the Village Cheese in Armstrong
- Heyward-Salmon River Rd to Hwy 97
- Hwy 97 to Barnhartvale Rd
- Barnhartvale Rd to Campbell Creek Rd
- Campbell Creek Rd to Hwy 5
- Hwy 5 to Merritt
- Merritt to Logan Lake on Hwy 97C
- Tunkwa Lake Rd to Savona on Hwy 1
- Hwy 1 back through Kamloops to Barnhartvale Rd
- Barnhartvale Rd to Hwy 97
- Hwy 97 to Westside Rd
- Westside Rd back to Kelowna

A lot will depend on the weather (rain) forecast and the smoke forecast.  We've seen one forecast as Sunny and another forecasting 70% chance of showers.  If the latter holds true, we won't likely go. As far as the smoke forecast, you can see we will riding around the Rossmoore Lake Fire south of Kamloops.  The fire is currently not threatening any towns or the roads we will be on, but we're unsure of how bad the smoke will be on Sunday.  If we go and the smoke is pretty crazy an alternate would be to follow the route as far as Merritt then take the connector back to Kelowna.  

We will be checking the forecasts on Saturday afternoon and we will make a call as to whether the ride is on or not around dinner time on Saturday.  At that time we'll also decide on a departure time and place.  If you are interested in joining us, please let us know.

I wanted to mention that we are having some issues with replying to a topic. In the short term, use the "Quick Reply" button as the "Reply" or "Edit" buttons result in a 404 error.

hopefully i was able to fix the issue, i´m just using the usual "reply" button and it seems to work.
As they say, never change a winning team.
The minor update threw some mean balls at me.
Hopefully that´s it so far.
It´s midnight here, but i couldn´t get to sleep knowing that things didn´t work.
